 Breast Buddies

 FCC Breast feeding support group ‘Breast Buddies’ is here to help mums to breastfeed through support, encouragement, information and education, and to promote a better understanding, of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and the mother. The group is facilitated by our crèche staff Anne and Amanda but it is mums themselves that bring the biggest value to the group by sharing their experience and difficulties with other mums.
Of course we are all here to discuss the areas of breastfeeding that women are struggling with but we're also here if you just want a good moan! It could be anything from 'Why won't my baby latch on properly?' to 'My other half isn't doing the washing up!'. We feel it's really essential to help mums feel important during those first few months with a baby, especially if they are constantly worrying about doing the 'right' or 'wrong' thing. We all know that it's not easy but new mums are scared of not doing everything perfectly. Sometimes just having a chat to someone face to face can make the world of difference.
We work closely with the onsite Health Visitors team and if needed can refer you to them for further support, members of the team often pop in for a chat.
Breast Buddies support group could be for you if:
- You want to meet other breastfeeding mums to share support and experiences;
- You are interested in reading more about breastfeeding, birth and parenting;
- You are a health professional interested in learning more about breastfeeding
- You want to help other breastfeeding mums;
- You want a decaf cuppa and a chat.
The group meets on a Monday afternoon between 12.30 - 2.30 in the crèche room within FCC.
