 At Forest Children’s Centre, we encourage the safe use of computers and the internet.
On our courses and in our internet cafe, adults and children use many different programs regularly, but we realise that to buy some of this software for home computers can cost a great deal of money.
Below, we have listed some software that you can download for free. We provide these links but do not endorse the software and cannot be held responsible for any damages caused by it’s use.

Office Software
|
|

 At Forest Children’s Centre, we use Microsoft Office programs regularly, but we realise that to buy such software for home computers costs many hundreds of pounds.
Fortunately, there is a free alternative called OpenOffice.org, that works just like the office programs at FCC. OpenOffice.org contains a word processor, called "Writer" that works just like "Word", a presentation maker called "Impress" that works like "PowerPoint" and a spreadsheet program called "Calc" that works like "Excel".

Graphics/Photo Software

GIMP
 GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.
 Photofiltre
PhotoFiltre is a freely distributed, complete image retouching and manipulation program. It allows you to perform simple or advanced adjustments to an image and apply a vast range of filters. It is simple and intuitive to use and has an easy learning curve.
Picasa
 Picasa is free photo editing software from Google that makes your pictures look great. Sharing your best photos with friends and family is as easy as pressing a button!
