The aims of the Forest Children’s Centre is to establish a local facility supporting training, employment support, confidence & capacity building activities & informed learning opportunities.
While the economic benefits of learning are acknowledged, learning also helps to promote active citizenship, to strengthen the family and the neighbourhood.
Here at the centre we have a large training room in which to facilitate courses. The training room is well equipped with laptops and a large interactive white board. The room has flexible desk and seating to fit either the smallest of course or largest of meetings.
 We have developed a wide range of courses, including the traditional favourites which we know people enjoy, as well as a wide range of one-day workshops, tasters and short courses in all sorts of subject’s. These include Teaching Assistant Level 2, digital photography, Child hood studies, family links nurture program, budget cookery, confidence building.
Our newest course this term is the employability Skills program delivered by James from WEA/Learn direct. This is a 10 week course and facilitation is supported by centre staff and the Volunteer coordinator from Duffryn Community Link as well as Heather, our Community Ambassador.
New courses due to start after Easter are Community Leaning Representatives course and Basic Car mechanics as well as a web site design and art taster sessions.
All our courses fit within the childcare sessions delivered on site and free crèche facility is available for the very little ones. Free coffee and tea is available for those undertaking training within FCC.
